Nica Gimeno, born in Barcelona 1959, is a teacher of the Alexander technique recognized by the Society of teachers of the Alexander technique (STAT) in Britain where she trained in London for 3 years. She is a member of the international association Alexander Technique Education (ATE) and a founding member of the association of teachers of the Alexander technique in Spain (APTAE). For 22 years Nica has been teaching the Technique in her own practice in Barcelona to people from all walks of life including actors, musicians, therapists, doctors and teachers. She founded the first Alexander teacher training course in Spain, “L’Estudi” centro de técnica alexander de Barcelona, in 2003 and continues to be the director of the course. Her trainees have come from all parts of Spain as well as South America, England, Finland and Israel. For ten years she was an integral part of the teaching team training actors at the Barcelona Institute of Theatre working intensively in the department of Acting as the teacher of Alexander technique and movement. During 5 years Nica studied music therapy with Oruc Guvenc, a Master Sufi , musician, therapist and ethnologist and professor at the university of Marmaca in Istanbul. Recently she is exploring and attending a group practice on the Non Violent Communication NVC as a communication toll for Alexander teachers. Recently graduated as a Gestalt therapist from the Institute of Gestalt in Barcelona. In the last 6 years Nica’s personal research has focused on the exploration and identity of presence in everyday life. |
